22 metre Wavepiercer

Q-West Boat Builder Limited of New Zealand recently delivered MV Polaris, a 22 metre wave piercing catamaran to Brian and Nola Backshall.

The vessel, with a 7.5 metre beam, steamed direct from Wanganui, New Zealand to the vessels home port at the Brisbane Royal Yacht Squadron Marina. Q-West’s brief was to produce a quality aluminium craft that meets all the requirements of the Queensland Survey authority and the Owners desire for a low maintenance craft with practical systems to enable Owner operation.

Polaris is fitted with two 3406 Caterpillar engines driving remote mounted reduction boxes and five blade propellers. The vessel has three deck levels with the lower deck accommodating the main lounge, galley, laundry and three double cabins with ensuites and one double bunk cabin. The mid deck level is fitted with the bridge lounge and separate helm area. The upper deck is fitted with sun loungers. The vessels interior is American Cherry and all cabins are air conditioned. The aft deck is fitted with a tender platform that lowers from deck level to below the waterline

The impressive physical dimensions of the vessel provide exceptional outdoor living areas combined with large interior volume. For further information please contact Q-West Boat Builders, New Zealand on 0064 6 344 3572 or visit www.q-west.com
