Prime Minister John Key paid a visit to Wanganui on Friday 22nd June 2012, visiting local businesses including, Q-West Boat Builders. The Prime Minister spent one hour on site at Q-West during which he was able to look on-board the New Zealand Maritime Police vessel ‘Lady Elizabeth IV’ which was on-site for scheduled maintenance. Mr Key also held an open discussion in the workshop, where Q-West staff were given the chance to ask questions. It was a great privilege for Q-West to have Mr Key visit and staff found him very approachable.

A major refit of a Fiordland tourist boat has come to an end and within a few days the Milford Wanderer will be at its home waters of Milford Sound ready for the summer season. The refit, which was carried for an undisclosed sum, started in May at the Q-West Boat Builders yard at Castlecliff and has been completed on time and on budget.
