REFIT OF KARAAVHA – 2003

The vessels were originally constructed in France and operated in Tahiti.  They were purchased by a New Caledonian fishing company with the intent of extensive modifications before being sent to New Caledonia for service.

The intent was to extend the vessels by three metres in the fish hold area, install brine tanks and ice making facilities as well as a complete and extensive refit of all vessel systems.  There were ten vessels in total and it was agreed that the work would be completed in blocks of three every three months.

Naturally with the sheer volume of work undertaken there were many, many other areas that required unforeseen work but these were all managed within the original time frame.
